Chamberì district in Madrid, there is a place that I loved so much and that I would totally recommend, Sala de Despiece. As soon as you enter, you’re fascinated by the table all along the place where customers sit down to enjoy various tapas and to attend a small show of the preparation of dishes. The formula is simple: you can not book, sit at the counter, start to choose from a handwritten plasticized menu all the tapas that inspire you the most and then prepare yourself for a small tasting path with not very elaborate dishes but definitely original and prepared with really good raw materials (for what I could taste!). I chose to start with a vegetarian tapa, Okra "Africana", Piri Piri peppers with maple juice sauce to dip in a granola of farofa, coconut and shrimp, tasty! A dish not to be missed, the Chuleton: slices of beef rib served with truffle sauce and grated tomato, a delight, guys!
Funny the game of composing yourself the roll by rolling the individual slices of meat on themselves. The Chulaton provides the active participation of the guest who has to repeat the gestures of the Chef and pack the final bite: an explosion of flavors!! If I close my eyes, I feel like I'm reliving the moment I ate it! I also tried a dessert, a Halva ice cream with sesame biscuit, honey and pistachios with pistachio cream, nothing to say, yummy too, delicious and creamy without tiring, I would eat another! If you're in Madrid don't miss a stop at Sala de Despieces!
