Tirano, a small town in Valtellina where the famous red Bernina train departs for its amazing journey. The Parravicini Restaurant & Wine Bar is definitely the first place I would recommend, both to taste a wine (wide choice of Valtellines and other Italian regions) and for a gourmet break. Pleasant ambience and beautiful atmosphere, for dinner we tried some really delicious, inviting and challenging dishes so I recommend you to combine a good wine that can support some strong courses! We have chosen a Valtellina Superiore DOCG, Inferno, by the Nobili winery. Among the starters I suggest to try the Sciatts on a bed of green salad with Bresaola of Valtellina: the Sciatts are crispy pancakes of round shape with a heart of melted cheese, very delicious, maybe a little too many to open a dinner. Among the first dishes do not miss of course the pizzoccheri della Valtellina, typical local dish, here really good! Tortelli with stuffing of porcini mushrooms on casera cream, equally greedy. Wonderful rye tagliatelle with venison sauce. To finish lightly you could opt for a sorbet, a little freshness undoubtedly helps at the end of the meal but there are possibly alternatives that will not escape the sweeter like apple pie on vanilla sauce or chocolate fondant with pistachio sauce!
