The Badia di Passignano, in the heart of Chianti Classico, is an ancient monastery of 395. The Osteria, surrounded by vineyards and next to the Abbey, is a restaurant with a Michelin star, stone vaults, round tables elegantly set with white tablecloths, iron chandelier, and a delightful outdoor area overlooking the surrounding Chianti hills. The restaurant has been open since 2000, the menu varies 4 times a year and vegetables and herbs from the very lush vegetable garden next to the Abbey are used. Exciting start with the reinterpretation of the panzanella, cream of Florentine tomatoes, raw marinated vegetables from the garden, crispy bread and next to all the ingredients proposed in the form of mousse, tasty, refreshing, a show. Crunchy and delicious zucchini flowers with Cantambrian anchovies lying on a cream of herbs and zucchini (all always strictly from the garden!). For more determined palates the Risotto with Colombaccio with porcini mushrooms and grana, very creamy, perhaps a slight lack of acidity that you risk accusing the last bites.
Among the second courses the beef fillet with zucchini and pine nuts and the signature dish of the restaurant: the pigeon (crispy breast and stuffed thighs) with chickpeas and spring onion, a challenging dish after the risotto with wood pigeon but to try!
