Once upon a time there was a cultured gentleman from Brescia, Guido Berlucchi, who had a great passion, that of producing a white wine firm from the vineyards surrounding his splendid home in Franciacorta.
The day came when Mr. Guido met a wise and forward-thinking man who would go down in history as one of Italy's most famous winemakers, Franco Ziliani. Ziliani, returning from France captivated by the wonders of the territory of Champagne, proposed to Guido to undertake a new production, that of a cheerful wine full of bubbles accessible to all Italians. It was thus that in 1961 the first 3000 bottles of Pinot di Franciacorta were sealed: the famous Italian bubbles of Franciacorta were officially born, which today touches a production of 18 million bottles a year. If you visit the Berlucchi wineries you will be accompanied in the oldest part, what legend wants was the scene of the meetings between Guido Berlucchi and Franco Ziliani: a small cellar in the cellar, very evocative, where one of the first famous bottles of 1961 is kept on a bulletin board, as a Holy Grail of Italian winemaking.
