A weekly winter evening, why not try a new restaurant in Milan? We arrive in the new Mater Bistrot and the room was still empty, dim lights that make a certain atmosphere, rough walls and marble tables alternated with wooden tables, velvet armchairs; on each table a candle just to make the atmosphere even more peculiar. When then I got the menu accompanied by a card inserted in 'Our Lady’s litanies' by Biagio Marin I realize I am in a very particular place, definitely. The plus of this new restaurant is definitely the choice of wines: peculiar labels, biodynamic wines, the result of a long research directly travelling in the territories of origin throughout Europe. The first part of the menu is funny, the proposals are under the heading 'with your hands '. I opted to taste the saffron cupcake with Parmesan and marrow foam. I feared to find a little harmony in this bite but instead it was quite balanced. The second dish I wanted to taste was the Risotto with sweet gorgonzola, fermented beet and wasabi: very good and also in this case a good balance between the creaminess of Gorgonzola and the freshness of the beet and wasabi. I would also say a very scenic presentation! I would say that these two plates make me want to come back in the future to taste new dishes!
