I was really curious to try the kitchen of Le Nove Scodelle (The Nine Bowls), a traditional Sichuan Chinese food restaurant; I love the spicy food and I really like the Oriental cuisine. I read that the Chef along with all the staff spent time in China to really learn from Chinese women the most authentic techniques and recipes. Nine was the lucky number of the Emperor in China and in the ceremonial Chinese ritual there are usually nine bowls for a banquet and in this restaurant the menu is precisely centered on nine dishes. The place is very nice and cozy, there are two not very large rooms and the tables are quite attached to each other; I was fortunate enough to sit in the first room where there is a beautiful light coming from the large exterior windows. If you order several dishes, they come almost all together to you. It is very nice as a convivial approach and I must say that a large table could have the advantage to order and share (and then taste) more dishes. The ravioli are so big and prepared to the perfection, stuffed with pork and a sweet spicy sauce, an intense taste! Even the fresh hand-pulled spaghetti is a very interesting plate, not only for its strong taste but also for the quality of the hand-pulled pasta; it is served with sesame sauce and Sichuan pepper Also the chicken strips cooked at low temperature and marinated with chili sauce and Sichuan pepper is an excellent dish. A curiosity to finish: the light root sauteed in wok with ginger and Goji berries.
First time I tried the light root, it’s nice but i don’t think I’d eat an entire plate of that!
